It has a beautiful cover that looks even better in person. Leathersoft is not real leather, but this is really nice and feels so smooth and soft. It's cool to discover that there are leather like covers that look and feel so supple, imo.I only have two little criticisms: I wish it had a little ribbon in the spine that you can use to keep your place like some other bibles have. And I wish the sentences had a little more spacing between them because my child seems to lose his place from time to time, maybe because the lines are too close.I would buy this again and may do so for gifts. This is also a very good bible for anyone, not just children. I really think everyone should have this bible version in their home. I love having access to a bible that is so easy too read but not dumbed down. The words are still beautiful to read, with the meaning and context intact.

About the Author Dan P. McAdams, PhD, is the Henry Wade Rogers Professor of Psychology and Human Development at Northwestern University. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Highly Recommend this book By Lmkw I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Though it's not really a book you just sit down and read from cover to cover, you can, and I did. I found the topics very relevant for kids and actually, for adults too. The verses, all listed out under subheadings, were relevant and not necessarily the first ones you think of for a particular topic. I found myself wanting to break it open in the middle of the day to read about a topic when my child was experiencing a particular issue so I could point them to what God's word says about that topic. (For example, Anger when he was having a fit). So easy for kids to read on their own when they have a question about something in the Bible, an emotion they are struggling with, or a situation at school they don't know how to process or handle. Though I initially thought I would prefer a version other than the King James, I found myself enjoying the poetic nature of it and the newness of each verse as I don't read the KJV often. I found it enjoyable to use the references and look up different versions of each verse for a topic just to get a better understanding if the KJV proved difficult. This book can be used in many ways and is a treasure trove of those verses you want to share with your kids as they traverse life and now they are in one place all ready for you to enjoy.

This is exactly what I have been looking for and plan to give a copy to every family in our church who has children, will encourage grandparents to purchase a copy, and will be giving a copy to our married children to use with our grandchildren. It has a wonderful, easily readible layout with age-appropriate illustrations. (I do wish that each of the topics had an accompanying illustration.) There is a list of suggested uses at the back of the book; I intend to start incorporating the topics with weekly Sunday School lessons. What a wonderful way to teach children to seek the answers for all of life's problems within the pages of God's Word! On a side note - I also HIGHLY recommend Michelle's first book, "What Is Modesty?", and her blog, found at www.as4me.net.

Learning how the Bible applies to their life is distinctive for children. Children have different thoughts, loves, and worries than adults. Michelle Brock's Topical Bible for Kids addresses topics for parents and children alike. The Topical Bible includes topics such as Pets, Bullying, Anger, and School, as well as deeper spiritual topics like Salvation, Omniscience, and the Holy Spirit. This book is written for children, but has ample help for parents as well as space to include personal topics important to you. I think this book is a delightful addition to the family library.

70 of 71 people found the following review helpful. Terribly, Horribly Improved By E. Lambert First of all, I wouldn't exactly call myself an anxious person. A pessimist, maybe. A realist for sure. Bad stuff happens, often enough to me. I think it's just plain good sense to plan for things to go terribly, horribly wrong. So, even though I didn't set out to buy a self-help book about anxiety, when I stumbled on a copy of this book, with it's disconcerting, topsy turvy cover, I bought it on impulse. And then I read it. And now...well, now, I feel like I'm looking a the world in a totally and profoundly different way. And I like what I see.Nothing in the book defies logic. In fact, it's all very simple, really, making uncannily perfect sense. In fact, I'm kind of surprised none of the points in the gentle, funny, and playful chapters never occurred to me spontaneously before. But as I browsed and flirted with this remarkable little book, a lot became clear to me about those times in life when I've struggled. Yes, I can choose to give my attention gently to what's going on around me in the here and now. Yes, I can learn to not invest my thoughts with a lot of unnecessary authority. Yes, I can decide what I want my life to really be about, and, yes, I can find the flexibility I need to make it happen.I found the book to be wise and warm, literary and lighthearted. There is no "seven steps to a better you" here, no psychobabble or motivational baloney. Rather, it's like a barroom conversation with Wilson and DuFrene, a couple of guys who've thought a lot about life and how to wring a lot of joy and meaning out of the brief time we have. I loved the book. I got a whole lot out of it, even though I didn't really mean to. And I recommend it sincerely to anyone who has a few hours to kill on a good read that might, just possibly, change his or her life.

I have also found it a worthwhile and personally liberating read. There is an authenticity and compassion that is deeply present in the voice of this book. The suggestions and techniques have a solid grounding in state of the art psychological research, yet they are presented in an engaging, humorous and humanistic way. This book does not feel like a workbook or a self-help book. It has the quality of a warm and significant conversation with someone who is invested in your well-being and your personal liberation. Smith For any of you who have ever been anxious--whether you suffer from an anxiety disorder or struggle under the weight of job stress, parental responsibilities, and the speed of a society that presses us to rush through life without ever stopping to get present--this book is for you. Like many who will pick up this title I've suffered from stress and anxiety much of my life. I've read dozens of books on the topic and have worked as a self-help writer for nearly a decade. Rarely, if ever, have I read a book on anxiety that is as lucid and engaging as this one. It provides a unique insight not only into the nature of anxiety but the nature of human suffering by looking at the problem through the lens of an emerging, scientifically-grounded, and extremely innovative psyotherapeutic modality called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. ACT, as it is often called, utilizes techniques--like mindfulness and thought watching--that are as old as the hills, but contextualizes them in a way that is extremely palatable, intellectually satisfying, and useful for the Western reader. By Celia Kennedy The title of the book caught my eye, it had a "Secret Life of Walter Mitty" quality to it. As I read the book and the title revealed itself, I found myself caught up in a book that turned out to be weightier than expected.When we meet Julie Winterfeldt, she is finding out that her life is full of lies and misdirection's. Deciding that she deserves more than this, she promptly sets in motion decisions that will take her... somewhere. That somewhere is the stress-free, jobless, responsibility-free world of her best friend Kate. Her bestie lives on a trust fund, so life is more than comfortable, but lacking in purpose.After lounging about for weeks, Julie learns there is much more to Kate's life than she knew and uses this as the springboard to find her own direction. But as life does, she's thrown a couple curveballs, and she has to put all the pieces together, reinventing a new self.A charming, easy read, that left me wanting more. The author takes time setting up the complex life of Julie at the beginning, and it is worth it. I would have loved one more chapter, to delve ever further into the ever evolving life of Julie Winterfeldt.

I'll be able to put it down when I get sleepy. Well, I was wrong. I got caught up in Julie and her friend and the work she was doing, and before I knew it, the book was finished. I wanted to hear more, but the book was only released about a week ago. So I assume I have to wait patiently for the next one!!! Write faster!!! Loved it! Can't wait for the next one!

The unexpected detours that shatter Julie's normal routine life and known identity pull you in from the first chapter. The relationships that develop with the characters that are written so well you can envision them, this is a wonderful read. I can not wait for the next book in the series to be released!

Actually, before scheduling an appointment with the orthodontist, you should read this book.Of course you could ask a few questions and have some of your doubts clarified during the appointment with the orthodontist, but it won’t be nearly as comprehensive and systematized as this book. Also, if you go to the appointment already knowing your options, it’ll make the decisions regarding the treatment much easier to make.At first I thought that orthodontics was concerned with esthetics. I had no idea that even slightly misaligned teeth could cause a series of health issues, such as persistent headache, respiratory issues, and even sinusitis. I thought that only extreme cases of misaligned or crowded teeth could seriously interfere with the patient’s health.Drs. Matthew & Courtney Dunn lists a series of symptoms that parents should pay attention to. The way a children chew and how they are breathing, the position of the chin, etc. Those symptoms might go unnoticed due to disinformation, thus, learning them and paying attention to the kids could make a whole lot of difference in their future. And there’s also the financial aspect: by identifying potential issues earlier, the treatment tends to be shortened, which means less money.Another thing that I liked to know about was the clear braces option. I had no idea they even existed. I knew braces were smaller and prettier nowadays, but the transparent ones were a surprise to me.To sum up, I recommend this book to anyone eager to learn more about orthodontics in general, but especially to parents. 5/5 stars!

Excellent guide to braces By TFLReader Our son is nearing the age where we need to start looking at getting braces for his teeth and no one is really excited about this. I don't have fond memories of having braces as a teen, he is pretty frightened about the whole prospect, and the cost is pretty daunting. We thought we would try to get educated before making appointments and found the book "Brace Yourself" to be exactly what we needed. Written by two experienced orthodontists, there is a ton of great information here about the importance of getting good orthodontic work, the different types of braces available and even payment options that are out there. A very well written and highly informative guide that educated us and eased our minds about this entire process.

This is quite an interesting read especially for prospective patients and parents.

She went on and on about itching but she never said what the bites looked like, felt like (besides itchy) or where on the body they were. I just felt like she should have gone into way more detail about the mites as opposed to how she got them and the events leading up to that. However I did find it interesting to learn that the mites may be an issue for some but not necessarily all people within the home.

About the Author Sunday Adelaja is the founder and senior pastor of the Embassy of God in Kiev Ukraine and the author of more than 300 books which are translated in several languages including Chinese, German, French, Arabic, etc. A fatherless child from a 40 hut village in Nigeria, Sunday was recruited by communist Russia to ignite a revolution, instead he was saved just before leaving for the USSR where he secretly trained himself in the Bible while earning a Master s degree in journalism. By age thirty-three he had built the largest church in Europe. Today, his church in Kiev has planted over a thousand daughter churches in over fifty countries of the world. Right now they plant four new churches every week. He is known to be the only person in the world pastoring a cross cultural church where 99% of his twenty five thousand members are white Caucasians. His work has been widely reported by world media outlets like Washington Post, The wall street Journal, Forbes, New York times, Associated Press, Reuters, CNN, BBC, German, Dutch, French National television, etc. Pastor Sunday had the opportunity to speak on a number of occasions in the United Nations. Evidently, a lot! What is most unique about this step by step guide to Kingdom living though, is that it seems to predict and then answer all the reader's Kingdom-related questions. That is, all except one: how has the church survived until now without such a comprehensive, easy to understand manual for a life devoted to the Kingdom of God? While most material I have come across on the Kingdom of God leaves a question mark next to the practical application of it, in Kingdom Driven Life the author skilfully dispels all such cloudiness with real-life examples, factual church history, current and future world events, the infrastructure of the Kingdom, comprehensible action points and much more. It does what a great book must be able to do, it cuts across religions, faiths, ethnicities, cultures etc. Everyone can understand and apply this essential wisdom.In my opinion, Kingdom Driven Life is not really a book, it is more like a large dose of God's mercy sent to the church and all humanity in written form. Look around you, honestly compare the mark that the early church made on society to that made by the end-time church so far; is there a difference? Also observe current, pending and impending world events; does the church need a lifeline, does the world need solutions? Well, here they are. Do we need to don kingdom authority? Nell has captured the journey. While her "stories" are different from my "stories", the devotional aspect is comforting, and timely. My husband and I were active in the church. His dad and two brothers, were ministers (and 3 nephews and a niece serve now), and I was a Christian Educator. Perhaps that is why I connect. I keep returning to the scripture references which along with the prayers/thoughts for the day resonate at most needed times. I'm buying more copies for some widow friends and my church.

Doing this will overcome even the final hurdle of inner consciousness—its first shock of separating and the split. This is the first duality of the whole of consciousness and manifests in our right/left hemisphere split. How do we transcend that highest of inner rifts? We do so by putting the wisdom of the right hemisphere, its connective consciousness, above the left-brain’s lower separation consciousness. The former evolves from realizing, accessing, and opening our new spiritual chakras. The later evolves a purely mathematical, mechanical dominating worldview. We really need to make accessing our higher self, our second consciousness, instead of the other way around. Then we can connect what is most separate and harness the mechanical Third Dimension reality for the benefit of our life and those around us. We grow and our consciousness expands as well as our spiritual gifts. Although this information has been with us all along, we are now able to, for the first time in eons, access these energies and apply them to ourselves by working with our Spiritual Chakras. This is an invaluable gift for us, as well as for others. Perhaps we have found one of the answers to creating harmony within, leading to World Peace!

If you would like to raise yourself to a higher dimension and would like a step by step guide to aid you in this process then you must attain this book. You actually may be on the path to ascension and not know exactly where you are in your growth. This book will let you know exactly where you are and what may be happening to you during each step of this process of spiritual growth. There is new energy available to us all since December 21, 2012. This has been known by many ancient civilizations around the world. This information is easily verifiable. This new energy allows us to now move toward the fifth dimension while we are on this planet. The greatest test you will experience during this life is the experience of life itself. This new energy allows us all to experience new chakras that our Creator has given us. Discovering new energy By Grady Harp Elizabeth Joyce has written many books dealing with the spirit, the ascension into the fifth dimension, intuition, the nurturing of the soul and each book she writes finds a devoted audience because of her ease with which she brings us into her circle of thinking – inviting us to join her in a higher level of consciousness.To recap for those new to this area of thinking, a chakra is thought to be an energy point or node in the subtle body. Chakras are believed to be part of the subtle body, not the physical body, and as such, are the meeting points of the subtle (non-physical) energy channels called nadi. Nadi are believed to be channels in the subtle body through which the life force (prana) (non-physical) or vital energy (non-physical) moves. Various scriptural texts and teachings present a different number of chakras. It's believed that there are many chakras in the subtle human body, according to the tantric texts, but there are seven chakras that are considered to be the most important ones.Elizabeth’s description of the essence of her book is best related in her synopsis:‘Is it possible that all the knowledge of the universe is stored within us? I'm by no means an expert or student of psychology and have only taken a couple courses for college... so this book didn't help me much. It's very dry and seems to be more advanced than I expected for an intro book. I also didn't follow it well.I didn't finish the book to the end, but got a good ways through it before deciding it wasn't for me. It would likely be better for students or more advanced readers.
