Triplets Marcus, Monica and Martin are tough as hell with their brother Michael the leader and baby sis Machai in tow go to their grandmothers to live after having a knock down drag out with their mother! Teresa and Veronica are best friends but after reading this story so you want one?? Rebecca's mom passes away leaving her in the hands of the devil himself. There is mental and physical abuse, suicide, children taking care of children, medical issues all touched on in this story! Your heart will bleed at the rejection and smile for the true love! The parents need an immediate course on how to take of care of children because there is a lot of neglect and sick twisted issues going on for real!!!!!I am salivating for part 2 and I hope the author can take me to the places I went with this one. Wow this was great and I almost hated for it to end!!!!!!!!!!!!

The number of characters definitely helped you keep track of everything that happened. The synopsis doesn't prepare you for what you will be reading. This book was very serious and the title fits it perfectly actually. Teresa is one desperate chick. Veronica is the seemingly good girl of the book. Monica needs to finally decide what team she wants to play for. I like Michael even though he has a temper. The parents/adults in this book definitely needed help. The lack of parenting in this book was ridiculous. But somehow these kids managed to focus on education. Rebecca really needs a therapist because some her choices were questionable. I truly depise lesbian sex scenes and child molestation scenes are very hard for me to read. It was even harder for me to read how these individual characters dealt with these situations. If I could give this read 3 1/2 stars I would. I chose that rating because besides the difficult scenes, I have a hard time figuring out the story line. I'm willing to read part 2 to see where this story goes.

This tale of young people is packed full of emotions, betrayal, and deception just to name a few.While each tale was and individual journey i liked the fact that at the end they were co-mingling and didn't even know it.Raped by your father, smdh, that is so sad and horrible but it happens. How can you trust anyone; when the one person who was supposed to have your back is the devil. Raped by your brother, my god can the demons get away from these people. And dysfunction served up like a Thanksgiving meal for a set of triplets. Can the healing begin so these teens can grow into healthy adults? or will this learned behavior stay with them when the dreadful issues have stopped. This is a fast paced read, full of action, drama and more. I can't wait to see what part 2 brings.Reviewed by:Cheryl H.

My Virtual Reality Trip to the Louvre, Paris Part 9 of 12 By Don Kidwell French Paintings 18th/19th Century :It was a long trudge back to the stairs at the Temporary Exhibition halls, but just past that we found our first Monet which was definitely worth it! As to impressionists he has always been my favorite although his earlier works like "The Luncheon on the Grass" and "Mouth of the Seine at Honfleur" are sharply detailed. Krisy asked "Are you sure the same person painted both?" Yes, dear I replied, now let's see what Cezanne has to offer next. And if you want to start at the beginning of our adventure please flip back to da Vinci if you like.

If you must buy one of these buy only one of the painter you want to look at. It may seem that there are multiple books of the same painter, but they all have the same pictures. There is no dialogue or descriptions. Just the painting and the title. You'll get more out of a library book and it won't cost you a thing. I got all of mine free through Amazon prime for free. It would have been a ripoff had I paid any money.

Only collect one cover for each painter because the content is the same By Modupe Hendricks I have collected over 28 different Twenty-Four Claude Monet's Paintings (Collection) for Kids. I examined 6 of those covers and found that the inside pictures were in the exact same order. At least each picture has a name but no other information. I used kindle from the Microsoft store to look at the pictures, the pictures are in color. Adults would enjoy as well as students

A very complicated subject matter as described in the book and it is from inside knowledge with author specific insights that you have to learn to dissect and interpret correctly. REVIEWS OF THE LAST EDITION: "Without a doubt, this text is a must for serious students of pulmonary medicine, whether in training, academic tenure, or mature clinical practice." - JAMA REVIEW OF 4th EDITION: "It goes without saying that this is a thorough, in-depth review of chest medicine and as far as I could see, leaves nothing out. I was pleased to see this is a book for active physicians rather than researchers or scientists. It is aimed squarely at the specialists, but generalists such as GPs or specialists in other but related disciplines would also find this book a good reference source. I also liked the principal that associated non-respiratory problems are covered in detail. Take for example Sarcoidosis, which has always been classified as a chest disease, but is also a multi-system disease. The chapter on Sarcoidosis is an excellent review of the whole topic and not just the pulmonary aspects. In addition, there are excellent chapters on issues that you don't always find such as air pollution, high altitude and diving medicine. Importantly the book is readable and relevant to physicians and adopts a well-rounded approach to informing the doctor what he or she needs to know. The depth of detail achieved is just right, and this book has an encyclopaedic feel to it. There are plenty of illustrations in the book but in the main, this is primarily a text-based reference source."

Every chapter is a review written by exp. opinion of the field. Another important thing is the internet service with exp.cons. ..a very good tool easy to use containing a lot of good immages.This time I was a bit tempted to buy fishman's book but the price of the work is a nonsense (+100 $ abt.)So if you are interested in the field of pulmonary dis. buy the book and enjoy your reading !

As the first woman to break through the barriers that have kept women off the major league baseball diamond, Brenda Haversham has a lot on her plate. But it's what's at home plate that really gets her juices flowing, as she and the rest of the sports world suddenly discover her talent for throwing fastballs that make grown major leaguers wonder what they didn't hit. As Brenda struggles with the mundane issues of daily life in her shape-shifting roles of mom to two adolescent boys on the verge of manhood and former marital partner to an emotionally absent ex-husband on the verge of a retrograde boyhood, she is propelled almost against her will into a world of macho athletes who treat her more as an interloper than a teammate, fired-up fans dead set against the despoiling of their traditions by a woman, and a family that wobbles through her ascent to the Cleveland Indians major league squad, unsure and often unhappy with the chaotic demands of Brenda's sudden stardom. The ways the major characters find to navigate through this crazy new world lead to an elegant and convincing resolution that ultimately satisfies without making the reader feel overindulged or cheated. Petrone's witty way with a word coupled with her ability to excavate the seemingly bottomless pit of anger that motivates Brenda and fuels the flash in her pitching arm makes for riveting reading that both delights and inspires. I didn't expect to become so mesmerized by a fictional account of the first woman major leaguer, but once I started reading I could not put the book down, and finished it in one sitting. The plot may sound far-fetched, but in Petrone's capable hands, the idea of a woman breaking into the major leagues becomes less unbelievable than it does provocative and possible. "Throw Like A Woman" hits it out of the park!

Petrone delivers a thoroughly enjoyable Cinderella story full of humor and a thorough understanding of the fine points of baseba By Constance Dickerson While you're waiting for the season opener, join Brenda Haversham, a recently divorced mother who is lives in an inner ring Cleveland suburb. Her graphic art skills are outdated and she works in data entry, barely making ends meet. She's rich in anger though, mostly for her cheating ex who may or may not show up for his bi-weekly afternoons with his two sons. When Brenda throws an impressive 86 mph pitch at a Cleveland Indians ballpark concourse game, she's filmed by bystanders and soon becomes an Internet sensation. Shortly thereafter, she's recruited by a rec team and scouted by major league teams. Petrone delivers a thoroughly enjoyable Cinderella story full of humor and a thorough understanding of the fine points of baseball. That's not to say that there aren't bumps in the road when Brenda assumes her role as Cleveland Indians "Stopper," and the first woman to play in the major leagues. Brenda's adolescent son is not exactly thrilled with his mom's new job, and a budding romance threatens to make Brenda too happy to muster the anger she needs to pitch. Then there are the threats and trash talk from detractors. Brenda's team mates aren't exactly welcoming either, but Brenda is sassy enough to deal with it all. Petrone's wit is especially evident in the laugh out loud repartee between Brenda and her team mates. This story is a balm to the winter blues. It's too tempting to use a baseball metaphor and say that Petrone hits it out of the park.

By WildAboutBones This is not my usual genre, but I’m a sports and Ohio fan, so thought I'd give it a try, and I’m so glad I did.It was funny—loved the sports zingers—with a little bit of romance, and painted what I think is an accurate portrayal of what would happen if a woman not only tried out for a major league baseball franchise but actually made the team.I couldn't put it down and ended up unintentionally reading it in one sitting—all night long, literally. 9 am saw me hitting chapter 23, so I continued through to the end. I really enjoyed this story, and it was definitely worth staying up all night to read.I adored the Charlie character. He reminded me so much of one of the local Ohio sportscasters. I found all the characters vibrant and interesting, and the heroine read and felt real.I will definitely be reading Susan Petrone’s next book. I highly recommend this to all sports fans, whether they be male or female. I’d also recommend it to sports romance fans and romantic comedy fans. But don’t worry men, there’s just a splash of romance here and there, so you can enjoy it and still keep your man card status intact.My only issue? I’m upset because the NetGalley copy I read is an expiring DRM, and I won't be able to come back and re-read again and again.Source: NetGalley

Jay I met the author, briefly, many years ago and found him to be a man of depth and integrity.Like me, he was the son of a shopkeeper and learned to flourish in the more middle-class atmosphere of the Church of England.After service as a squadron leader he faces up to his sexuality and separates from his wife. He describes access to his daughters as times when ‘we had to spend those cold and wet Saturdays in museums, swimming pools.’It’s interesting that the only bishops who attempted to limit his ministry were evangelical ones. Now that 17 diocesans and 70% of ordinands are evangelical it seems that things will get worse for LGBT clergy (and laity?)He was awarded an OBE in 2000 ‘for services to the community in Newham, London.’

0 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Incredibly Thorough and Readable By Joe Krehel Very detailed and easy to read. Gaillardetz is tenacious in his effort. He successfully pegs the current and past situations of pediphilia in the Catholic Church- taking this highly sensitive subject to a highly believable level! He sites all sources at the bottom of each page and one could easily track the authentic documents if necessary. After reading I believe the Church did a much better job in handling pediphile priests in the past than in Pope Benedict and Pope John Paul's reign. Hopefully Pope Francis' history will look much different and our Church will return to the moral authority our world so desperately needs!

You get lots and lots of hints of Tawny's past & present in the other TBS books (The Barter System and Hudson, books 1 & 2), but seeing things from HER side? There's more to this wild child than you'd think! Getting her 'real' perspective of things, along with lots of twists and turns from her history that are alluded to but never stated in the other books...wow. Just...wow. I was stunned speechless after finishing...and promptly turned back to page one to read it again.Once again, the author pulls you in...and there is no escape. She engages the reader, enthralling them with the way she weaves her words and leaving them both satisfied and wanting more.This book is a great way to dip your toes into the TBS world...or, if you're already a part of it, a great way to stay connected to more than just Tawny! (no spoilers here!)

I am continually amazed at Shayne's ability to create such wonderful characters. I have read The Barter System and Hudson and wanted more on Tawny! She delivered in a HUGE way!! I love how Shayne intertwines her characters from her other books. Once again I've gotten a peak at the man Hollow. I want more of him. This book is awesome and definitely a must read.

Windsor during my time in Kenya (1971-76), it seems he was on his first of many assignments to develop into an acclaimed international "veterinary detective". His book, "More Sherlock Holmes than James Herriot" nicely demonstrates that he is multi-talented within his chosen profession, as well as on stage and as a writer. Myself being a veterinarian that also became a bit of a world traveler, I found the book especially enjoyable as he educates all readers while attempting to solve problems in each of the countries he is asked to work in. He details the challenges of having his family joining him in some rather less than ideal living circumstances. Along the way, he recalls the countless professional colleagues and locals, some receiving accolades and others having not provided such pleasant memories.LaRue W. He describes his training at a Veterinary School during a particular period, in a most interesting way. Then following postgraduate studies, he takes the reader through formative years in the lives of very busy veterinary science professionals of several types. This work laid down certain ground rules which later proved invaluable as his career branched out to some very interesting overseas postings where the differing human cultures and values make for a changing kaleidoscope to hold the reader’s attention. Roger Windsor has produced a leavened mix of the technical complexities of veterinary science within the absorbing human stories of a very interesting career. He has put good effort into the collecting of photographs of individuals in the story which helps greatly in establishing the reader’s sentiment of real life with real people, throughout a career of unusual interest to anyone. Also I am a fan of Sherlock.This is a very interesting read, if you are into veterinary science, and specially British veterinary you will love this book, it deserves a five star.James Herriot is the pen name of James Alfred Wight, British veterinary surgeon and writer.It is full of details and names that would be invaluable for people in the vet world, but alas! For us mortals it becomes at times a bit heavy.Well written and entertaining, and that is a lot in a book that is an autobiography of a veterinarian. It is also very enlightening because it reflects the life of the expatriates around the world. I can relate, my grandmother was a Stevenson.My interest is not in animals, but I live in Venezuela and I can relate to many of the situations. My daughter was interested in raising chickens, so the book was an eye opener. We, like most people, don't know how food gets on our tables!What I really like is a demonstration, clear and well written, of how with the use of reason we can change the world for the better, I haven't finished the book yet; but I certainly will.Finally the title is not a simple gimmick, Dr. Windsor really uses the methods of the great detective in real problems, and they work. If only we could be like that in our own lifes.Peter

I have been a type 2 diabetic for years and am always browsing through books that offer new information and healthy recipes that still take good. Food for Diabetics was an informative book that discussed what the author learned while on his own search for a healthier lifestyle. It was a good resource of information about what we do to our bodies with our current "nutritional choices." Sometimes it felt like a lot more introduction than was needed, but the recipes made up for that. I can already tell that I'm going to enjoy trying these recipes.

I would have given this book 6 stars if I could have By Robyn Jamison This book is really wonderful as it is chocked full of great information and pictures. It states the difference between "foods" and "superfoods". If every household was to only have one cookbook, then this is the book. From now on I will be only using this book in my kitchen.The first section of the book is full of nutritional information, it's a book on its own. The second part is full of great recipes covering all genres of cooking. More than enough to keep you going.Thank you Don.

2 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Why is the title of this book "Food for Diabetics"? By Amazon Customer My first question is, Why is the title of this book "Food for Diabetics"? Is it because diabetes is a hot topic these days? I read this book cover-to-cover, and couldn't find a single section or paragraph that specifically addressed diabetes. I even did a search of this book on my Kindle for "diabetes" and got 0 hits. There is no information in this book that is specifically tailored to either Type-1 or Type-2 diabetics. The author himself is not diabetic, and mentions that he successfully used the diet to deal with a thyroid condition as well as his son's ADHD. Some of the information within this book is useful on a general health level - for example, I agree with him regarding gluten. However, good information is mixed with misinformation. The author asserts that "saturated fat from animal sources raises 'bad' blood cholesterol levels, which are a sign of possible heart disease and stroke". He is unaware of the research that indicates that the supposed link between saturated fat and coronary heart disease has been proven to be unsubstantiated. There have been a number of studies and books regarding this, and this issue has been widely covered in the media over the past year especially. People with diabetes in particular benefit from a diet that's higher in fat. As a type-2 diabetic, controlling my diabetes without any medication for the past 6 years without medication, I can personally attest to this, as can many other people I know.Throughout the book, the author distinguishes between "dumb carbs" and "Superfoods Smart Carbs", "dumb carbs" being refined and processed carbohydrates, and that "smart carbs" are complex carbs that enable stable blood sugar and "diabetes prevention". For diabetics, the only "smart carbs" are non-starchy vegetables, lemons, and berries (in moderation)! This has been my personal experience and that of many people in the diabetic community who are controlling their diabetes without medication or moving in the direction of reducing/eliminating their medication. The author lists oats as a "superfood smart carb" and has numerous recipes including oats in the recipe section. Not a good food for diabetics, unless one wants to remain on medication permanently. Other examples of "smart carbs" that aren't so smart for diabetics are apples, beans, lentils, sweet potatoes, carrots, quinoa, buckwheat, brown rice, millet, and amaranth. All of these foods will significantly raise the blood sugar of people with diabetes. If one persists in eating these foods, one will remain on medication, and one's need for medication will likely increase! Great for Big Pharma, but not good for you!The author discusses soluble and insoluble fiber, recommending foods (in addition to the ones listed above), such as oranges, pears, oat bran, dried peas, brown rice, grapes (grapes are really high glycemic and will spike your blood glucose higher than refined sugar!) and oat cereal and other whole grains. Once again, all of these foods will raise one's blood glucose significantly if one is diabetic.In the section, "Cancer Preventing Superfoods", the author lists "top antioxidant foods" (I'm not repeating foods already mentioned above) such as sweet cherries, prunes, and plums. Once again, all of these foods will significantly raise one's blood glucose levels.The author lists the following food as being low Glycemic Index (GI) - most sweet fruits such as mangoes and peaches (he also lists strawberries which are actually ok in moderation). This is really misleading as these fruits will significantly raise one's blood glucose! He recommends foods such as boiled potatoes as having the "best satiety" index. Potatoes will raise one's blood glucose sky-high!!!The author seems to be of the CICO (calories in/calories out) school and promotes the following plant foods that burn more calories than they contain -but what about their effects upon insulin and blood glucose levels? -- for example: tangerine, carrots apricots, watermelon (I omitted fruits previously mentioned in this review).In the section "Superfoods Diet Conclusion", the author states that the "Paleo diet doesn't allow beans, oats, cheese and yogurt, but I think that there is no bad stuff in them because beans are full of antioxidants, they lowers cholesterol and blood pressure" (grammatical errors are the author's; that's how the sentence appears in the book - btw, this book needs a copy-editor) and that "the latest dietary guideline recommend we triple our current beans intake from 1 to 3 cups a week"...and asserts that beans are "low in sugar". Beans are too high in carbohydrates for diabetics!The only reason I didn't give this book one star is because there are a few recipes in it that I would actually use - not many though, as most of them include whole grains, legumes and fruit.I highly recommend the book Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution: The Complete Guide to Achieving Normal Blood Sugars. This book provides guidance for diabetics seeking to control their blood glucose and reduce or eliminate medications. My other advice is to eat to your meter. Test your blood sugar 1-2 hours after eating. If your blood sugar increases to unacceptable levels then this food should be avoided, no matter what ANYONE says, and don't rely on medication to compensate for a high carbohydrate diet. This will lead to remaining on medication, increasing one's need for medications, and the increased risk of developing diabetic complications over time.I'm glad I didn't pay for this book. If I had, I would have returned it for a refund.NOT RECOMMENDED
