1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Mixed feelings By deb1210 When I sat down to write a review on this I kept thinking how do I feel about this? I have mixed feelings about the book. Although it is listed as a hockey book, there is really no mention of it besides a couple of games, practice, and going on the road playing for a professional hockey team. There is really no interaction with the guys from the team.When Zoe first walks in on her friend, Misha making out with her crush, Gavin, she's shocked, hurt, and sad. Gavin has been on her radar for a long time and to find out he likes Misha, is a huge blow. Why didn't Misha tell her Gavin was his and she could never have him?? The passion they displayed for each other-she could only hope someone would look at her that way. She doesn't know what to do so she bolts. Talk about uncomfortable. The three don't know how to address the situation so they choose to avoid each other like the plague for months.Zoe is naïve, but very smart. At only 19, she is in her 3rd year of college with plans to go to medical school. Her mother left her at a young age and dad has been her only rock. She has no real friends except for Misha. Because of her mom leaving them, she has a tendency to run whenever things get too tough to handle.Gavin is bi-sexual. He never really looked at Zoe prior to this encounter and I was surprised by his quick feelings toward her. I felt that was a bit too sudden given he was just with Misha. This was confusing to me. He never had really talked to her or even dated her prior to her seeing the guys together. Seems he just changed gears and he was off to hunt after Zoe. He does seem like a great guy and later how he gets Zoe to believe what he was saying he really meant was nice and sweet.The sex scenes were hot! For Zoe being so innocent and naïve, she was a lot more skilled than I would have expected. Gavin even makes mention of it! I really liked Misha and want to hear more about him in the future. I think he is done with his playboy ways and wants to have a family. Overall, there was a lot of love chaos here. Zoe being the only one not bi-sexual, it jumped back and forth with the guys together, then with girls, and threesomes. It took some time for them to figure it out yet alone me. I did enjoy reading it because it flowed quickly. It was well-written so it drove me to continue to read and see where they all end up.Scoring His Heart is book three in the Texas Highlanders Ice Hockey series by Suzan Butler. Although I have not read the books in the series prior to this one, it was easily read as a standalone book. We see things from Zoe, Gavin, and Mischa's points of view, which is an effective way to tell the story. We get insight into what they're all thinking...but we also see all three of them have some major what the heck? mental moments. You could get serious whiplash from each of them at some point in the story when everything was going along just fine, when bam! they somehow decided in the privacy of their minds that it wasn't fine after all--with very little, if any actual reason for the switch in the outside world of the story. It was frustrating at times.The chemistry between all three was fantastic, and the sexy scenes were sizzling...but ultimately their relationship(s?) felt unfinished. One character went way too quickly from I never really noticed that person before, huh, I wonder why? to I love you . Seriously, way. Too. Fast. There was a very small handful (three, I think?) of horizontal--or mostly horizontal, anyway--encounters and one dinner out with other people before the declaration. And the third person in the relationship (trying very hard to keep it spoiler-free, though you can probably figure out who is whom in about 30 seconds) didn't end up with any kind of resolution at all--they went from start to finish believing that they'd never have a true, lasting relationship with anyone. In the book they went from an intense three-way scene to slipping alone into the bathroom to...nothing. They had one more conversation, essentially giving another character advice and then just disappeared from the story. I really wanted that person to realize their own self-worth, figure out that they were loved, heck just feel valued as a person, but it didn't happen. :(This was a quick read--I started the night before and was finished the following afternoon with lots of breaks to pick up the kids, shop, do homework, etc--but the pacing of the story felt off. Things happened quickly for the characters when they were on the page together (reference back to the above paragraph especially) but in between scenes there would be large stretches of time when they weren't in touch at all. After a huge scene between all three of them, almost two weeks goes by before the hero seeks out the heroine. Two. Weeks. Sure, he was on the road for nine days (though there's only a little actual hockey in the book, which was disappointing), but surely he's heard of a thing called a telephone? Especially when you made the big declaration last time you all spoke? Argh.If the book had gone on longer a lot of these issues could probably have been resolved. We could have seen some kind of an HEA for character #3, and the relationship between the other two could have gone at a more realistic pace. I'm also not quite sure why Gavin's 16-year-old niece was brought into the picture, because that really added a major squick factor to their big scene--she was somewhere in the house, (hopefully, please god) asleep, but still....So...would I read more in the series? I think I'd give them a try. Hockey players, after all, are my catnip. For everything here that didn't quite work for me, another aspect of the story did, so there's hope that another book in the series might hit the back of the net.Rating: 3 stars/C+I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

So while the synopsis and menage made me cringe, I wanted in with this story. There's honestly not a hockey, baseball, football based romance that will steer me away.When Zoe first walks in on her best friend making out with her crush, she's shocked. Two men's men who she likes...And they could never like her back.I liked Zoe for the most part. She was a well-written nineteen year old. She was a daddy's girl, her mother abandoned her, and she was super smart and getting prepared to be a doctor. Her 'in' with the hockey players was her father owned the bar they frequented.When Zoe walked in on them, Misha and Gavin's friendship took a four-month hit. They were used to doing sexual things with eachother in the company of a female, but this was the first time they'd kissed one another without another player (err, girl). Misha very much likes girls, but he likes Gavin too. He doesn't want to ruin the friendship he has with his best friend; besides, he knows that Zoe likes Gavin and wouldn't want to get in the way of that. He doesn't have forever written in him (which, *clearing throat* I sense his story coming soon!), but Gavin could.Gavin fancies himself in love with Misha, but once Zoe walked in... he realizes he may like her just as much, if not more.This love fiasco was a bit interesting to read. You had multiple friendships at play and an impending romance. You had a virgin who was initially terrified, but ended up being extremely open to the idea of being shared.All in all, the story was hot. It was written well in that aspect.I have to add, though, the part I appreciate most?Gavin falling for Zoe quickly -- there wasn't a doubt in his mind that he loved Zoe and he let her know, even though he knew it was said far too quickly. I almost appreciated that he and Misha ended up putting a stop to sharing Zoe -- because when you're talking about forever, I think there are just some things that shouldn't be crossed.Besides, if Misha does end up sharing word space with Sara... Yeah, there's no way Gavin wants in on that action..!
