From the Author This is a bit of an irreverent and summarized look at my journey to figure out whether I should give up10% of income and Sundays on the religion thing, when it seems to be hypocritical and irrational. It was first written in 1994 after I spent a good number of years trying to do everything religion taught me, until I just got fed up with the whole thing. Like the navigator who didn't fall off the edge of the earth when he dared to test his assumptions, life became so much clearer when I realized that God wouldn't fry me with a lightening bolt if I dared to question His ways much less His existence. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it.
About the Author After having much financial, business and even spiritual success at a very young age, Jim Ballew experienced a Job-like period in life where he lost his family, home, career and health in a short time. Some of his own doing, and much unfair and uninvited. His journey to understand more about "why" bad things happen to good people (and how God's forgiveness brings good things to bad people) has become a life long investigation. At one time disdaining that "Jesus" was the answer to everything, he now writes (and attempts to live) in continuous communion with Him trying more and more to understand, Isaiah 26:3 which says (AMP):You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You--in both inclination and character], Because he trusts and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation].Of course the word "peace" here is not just tranquility, but shalom - meaning health, prosperity and completeness where nothing is broken or missing.

This is a Christian apologetic book, By mjplatt The title is not a criticism...it's to let folks know the nature of the book, which is unclear from the description. The book is a very short, very shallow presentation of a few of the standard apologetics that have been around for years and years. the author's intent seems to be to denegrate mainstream religious movements and encourage you to essentially form your own religious beliefs and view of a god. In otherwords, everyone will end up with their own individual religion, or version of one. For those wanting a meaty discourse on apologetics, this is not your book. For atheists or agnostics hoping to find new or strong arguments for a god, they are not in this little book. One can easily find strong refutations of the tired hacks presented here. All one needs do is avail one's self of Google or search in books here on Amazon.

There is no doubt..the author is a true believer By Rom Awful, the author starts off with a misleading title, then proceeds to present the worst arguments I have seen in a while. Afraid of scrutinizing your own beliefs so much? Just goes to show, you can't debate a true believer......
1 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Not what it appears to be, deceptive and full of faulty logic. By Amazon Customer Poor guy. Not a logical thinker. Just another indoctrinated individual who states the bible is factual and that is proven by history. Enough said about this fact checker. He is either not very bright or he really thinks that he will lure some unsuspecting nonbeliever into reading this book. Once into the book the nonbeliever will see the " light". Really? Anyone who reads this book and falls for it is beyond help in the first place in my humble opinion. But in my experience, the dishonesty and deception is pretty typical of these folks who are missionaries to we heathens. Their dishonesty is disheartening ( supposedly so religious and all), and their grossly faulty logic is discouraging. One last point, the "author" ends with " he gave you free will." But if you use it to disagree with god, he'll kill you. Great, huh? Moreover, there are many good books, full of logic, that refute the free will treatise. Check them out. Don't waste 99 cents on this one. Donate it to a good cause.
