6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Font is too small for young eyes By David Kenney As a Pastor and Father I am always looking for bibles and faith based books for my two sons. My oldest is 8 and loves legos - so naturally I thougth this would be a good fit.First the translation : The New International Reader's Version (NIrV) is a new Bible version based on the New International Version (NIV). The NIV is easy to understand and very clear. More people read the NIV than any other English Bible. So, Zondervan (the publisher) made the NIrV even easier to read and understand. They used the words of the NIV when they could, but often times they used "shorter" words. They also took the time to explain words that might be hard to understand; and they made the sentences shorter.So yes, it's a good translation for kids, but for children my son's age, I still prefer the Common English Bible (CEB)So what about the legos? Well - throughout this Bible, there are 24 double sided picture pages of Bible scenes made out of Legos (Noah, the Tower of Babel, Solomon, the Nativity, Jesus Walks on Water and many more) and then each of these pages also includes a “Building Block Verse” - sort of like a memory verse that relates to that story.So aside from those 24 pages - it's a normal small print times new roman font Bible. The pages are not colorful, the Bible does not have a child friendly layout - it's almost like Zondervan took their normal NIrV gif bible and "inserted" these pages, slapped a cover on it and called it a "kid's bible."In second grade, my son is still learning to read. So FOR HIM - the font is too small and there is too much text on each page. In my opinion this still an adult Bible with kid pictures in it.So it's a pass for me. I'll be donating this to the Church library, or an older child.I received this Bible free from Book Sneeze and ZonderKids for an unbiased review
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Building a Strong Foundation on God's Word By amazingracec I received a copy of the Faith Builder's Bible in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.As a mother of a younger boy, this was a no brainer. He LOVES that particular set of building blocks that snap together and are super painful to step on! He also needed a new Bible.I was concerned that this Bible might have some affiliation with another book that claims to be a Bible. This Bible has NO affiliation with that other one! WHEW!Ok, so on to the Bible. As you can see the Bible has a colorful cover, with a brick building look that would catch the eye of any child. There are several color pictures showing these blocks in different scenes, such as Noah building the ark, the Ten Commandments, Solomon's Temple (Which is REALLY COOL) and the Birth of Jesus. There are not as many pictures in here as I expected, but it is still fun! The pictures are not really the focus anyway. At the bottom of these pages is the Building Block Verse, a verse that relates to the picture. In the front of the BIble, is a fun graphic with the books of the Bible grouped into their categories...they appear as stacked building blocks. By the way, did you know that the books in the Old Testament are grouped in 5s and 12s? I just learned that! I think it is pretty cool! Probably my favorite Graphic is the ABCs of Salvation. This is a simple plan of salvation a child can follow. I have seen this in some VBS programs too. Some children might already be familiar with it.In the back of the Bible, there is a small dictionary and a list of Great Bible Stories.My only negative is the NiRv version. It is not my personal favorite for many reasons. I would love to see more variety in Bible Versions for children. I am sure there are reasons for this, but it is an issue for me...

Great for Lego Lovers By mommy A new NIrV Bible for kids 6-10 that follows the popular brick-building trend.The Faith Builders Bible, NIrV uses the popularity of brick-building pieces to engage children with the Word of God. Includes 24 full-color pages of illustrations plus the complete New International Reader's Version (NIrV) of the Bible (from Genesis to Revelation) in a very readable, 9-point font size.My kids go to church every Wednesday & Sunday, Hailee my 9 year old always brings her bible and has a few to choose from. Jace is 7 and has been taking a small free bible every time. I wanted to get him a Bible I know he will take care of. He has been doing alright with his small bible but I wanted to get him something of his own that he can read & bring to church. He really likes building with legos so I knew the Faith Builders Bible would be a great first bible for him. I don't need to worry about him not taking care of it because its just for him! I am going to give it to him for Christmas to make it even more special to him!
