It started out so great, then my interest dipped mid way through the read and then peaked a tiny bit again. How an author chooses to write a story, I have no problems with. If they want to make a character do something I don't like, that's no problem as well. I won't based my review on that. However, Gavin to me started out so strong; the curiosity of who he is and the mystery around him is what kept me fired up. Then, here he goes with the choices he makes that will later come back to haunt him. At times he seemed weak especially the scenes he has with his mother and sometimes with Nila. My fire for him slowly dies as my attachment and connection to him faded. Towards the end, my feelings shifted again to kind of liking him as he tries to prove himself to Lara, but it wasn't the same as the way I felt in the beginning. Lara, I liked her character, but the author did something with her character that was so random and unexpected that I was uncertain how to react to it.Also, I know they are in another country, but using the word shag to describe the sexual act was ruining the vibe of the read. I just don't think its a word that I would like to see in my romance novels.Overall, this was a likable story believe it or not. The consistency for me was a bit up and down at times, therefore, my enjoyment was the same. FYI, there is a cliffhanger. I am beginning to hate cliffhangers.

There was really no one to root for in a rather strange story portrayed as a romance. The odd cast of characters included a smothering mother, a mama's boy for a hero, a psycho ex girlfriend and a so-so heroine. I really disliked the hero. He did not have a backbone and was a very weak character throughout the story. I was especially perturbed by this particular thought he had after he has had smex with the psycho ex...."I didn’t bother using a condom because I knew I was her only. She couldn’t get pregnant because I had her tubes tied." WHAT? How does he make that happen? Is that by a royal decree? Oh yeah, he is royalty of some sort. The ex was a woman he picked up from a bar and then he had a 7 year smex relationship with her. Her constant interaction with the hero throughout the book took away all the romance from the story. As for the rest of the story...it ends in a cliffhanger...Spoiler **************************************************************************Those tubes somehow became untied.

By Amazon Customer I tried to finish this book... but I finally had to give it up... when (alert:spoiler) Lara came down in an outfit to prove that any person especially a man had power over her.... outfit.. halter top and mini skirt! Yeah right! That really proves it! Why is she trying to prove it anyway. The story does not indicate any man has tried to dominate or control her. Her previous boyfriend was also a nice person... this is according to Lara... they ended on good terms. She is making me SICK! She is ridiclous! Gavin is weak too. I'm though with it. I can't read anymore! Ugh!
