Excellent, powerful and heartbreaking -- a must read By Len Diane Zaia's detailed recollection of years of mistreatment by the medical community, as her family tried to find the cause of her daughter Stephanie's symptoms, should be read by anyone who has trouble getting a proper diagnosis. Zaia describes, in specific detail, the years of doctors and psychiatrists who decided that Stephanie's symptoms were psychological because they weren't able to find the true cause and were too proud to refer Stephanie to a more qualified specialist.My daughter, Joanna, has Dystonia and she was misdiagnosed by many "experts."I've been a Dystonia support group leader for fifteen years. The complaint that I've heard most often has been about doctors who don't listen to their patients and who misdiagnose.My wife and I started the support group after our regional newspaper published its first article about Dystonia. We received many phone calls and they all had three things in common:1. The callers had never spoken to anyone who knew about Dystonia.2. It took over ten years for each caller to be properly diagnosed.3. The callers didn't want to end the phone calls because they finally found someone who understood what they had gone through.I relived my family"s experiences as I read Zaia's book. It"s an eye opening education for anyone searching for a correct diagnosis. I highly recommend it.

A very fast and inspiring read By Candice Diane Zaia has eloquently shared the frustrating and heartbreaking journey of trying to find the correct medical diagnosis for her daughter's dystonia. Her honesty and vulnerability will certainly empower other patient's and their families to keep up the good fight when the medical profession dismisses their concerns and does not keep their oath to "first do no harm". The video links of Diane's beautiful daughter are very powerful
