Rachel As a political blogger, and author of one political drama two political tomes, this book was dead center on my literary G-spot. It's fast-paced, entertaining, full of interesting characters and plot twists. The intro mentions it is the novel adaptation of a screenplay and I certainly can see that. Very visual writing. I felt like I was in the same room with the mutant collection of outcasts putting their talents together for no good, in the service of politicos who had few redeeming qualities. Since the story seemed to mirror the realities of politics on the ground in today's contentious and mercenary world of power grabbing, my enjoyment of the novel had bittersweet undertones.I am already familiar with the extraordinary talents of both Linton Robinson and Cammy May Hunnicutt. The combination of both their creativity and edgy delivery is dynamite to the power of ten.

BeeBee Blaylock, working for the Miniver camp, meets Flyer and Deck, two homeless jailbirds and recruits them to help her. This begins the shady and at times illegal shenanigans they employ to get the votes in for their man. As new members are recruited, the team dawns the name Dread Viper and moves into their Lair to enhance the operation. When a new campaign manager is brought aboard, the team is fired. With Miniver closing in on the lead, BeeBee jumps to the Jamison camp in hopes of saving face for the team. The only way to win the election is to expose the voter fraud that Dread Viper perpetrated for Miniver. Way to go Linton, this one is a winner!

His influences are varied: upper division education at University of Washington, Wake Forest, Baylor, University of San Francisco, San Francisco State and several Army training programs. `I leaned much more in the Army, prison and street warfare, however.' As he states on his website, `I wrote for the cream of the West Coast "hip urban weeklies" such as the Seattle Sun, Rocket, Stranger, and Weekly; San Diego Reader, Revolt, City Beat and Weekender; Bay Area Guardian and Express; Rocky Mountain News, and so on. And national magazines such as Penthouse, Young Athlete, American Photographer, Hustler, Harpers, Science, and anybody in that payment bracket. In recent years I also wrote for publications in Mexico, including Spanish cultural and investigative mags as well as English papers in Los Cabos, Vallarta, Cancun, Tijuana and Mazatlan. This is experience produced a living, awards for journalism and literature, and the formation of deep distrust for the editorial community that survives to this day. I subscribed to the traditional writer's grab bag of odd jobs such as: jail guard, psychometrist, cave guide, mail order marketing hotshot, poetry publisher, smuggler, photographer, webmaster and low-key street crime. His work is very much affected by the decades he lived in various parts of Mexico and Central America. "The various books Linton has produced vary from poetry both in anthologies and his own singular works, a Hyper novel (PROPERTIES OF LIGHT), and more - in other words, he is an experimentalist and there are few venues of the written word he has not explored - and achieved success. He blends his novel SWEET SPOT with quotes that speak bluntly about Mexico and sharpen the tip of his pen. But here he joins forces with steamy writer Cammy May Hunnicutt and the result is a fast-spinning story that takes aim at both political parties and comes out as a fine piece of parody as well as a tasty tidbit of a story. Not having read the first two books of the BeeBee Blaylock Saga, Book 3 is a reason to tread back and enjoy the full spectrum. But the story, in brief: ‘BeeBee is back, a little older and much wiser, but still the lovely cheerleader with an instinct for landing in employment trouble. Her past fracas with the governor campaign lands her a job as a "bagwoman" for a San Diego mayor race, but she rises in the ranks when she runs into some conmen and starts using them to hustle votes, not money. But re-enter the villain from her last politics job and she has to scramble to come out with a job, the money, and a cute guy she's learning to appreciate.’Many writers have approached this subject matter, but none with the salvo of Linton Robinson. He manages to make us feel as though we are witnessing history while at the same time writing a riotously arousing story. Linton is a unique man, an important voice, and one of the most entertaining writers you are likely to encounter. Don't miss out. Grady Harp, November 15
