Awesome lead character, lots of drama and emotions and even romance By Kitty Smith This is one of those stories where I really identified with the main character because I've lived in towns like Clearwater. If you're a woman your role is be a good girl, get married, have children, fix dinner for your family, go to church, and always ALWAYS put your smile on no matter what. It's like living in a pocket of 1850, with cell phones. Emily has to come back and take a job teaching Women's Studies in Clearwater, where feminist is considered a shorter way of saying commie libtard man-hater, she's got her hands full.Amid all the drama of being a big city liberal stuck in a glaringly red small town, she runs into major hotness at the local coffee shop. Lance is in town working for a politician running for senate, and the chemistry and sparks between them are instantly obvious. Clearly these two are fated to meet, and I was happy she found someone who "got her", because when she helps a girl change majors, it's like she threw a rock into a pond, sending ripples out in all directions. The response she gets from the community is akin to pitchforks and torches, including a particularly nasty editorial by Mia Wynder in the local paper that sends Lance through the roof, and drags him into the ever growing drama.It's a wonderfully written story about coming home, being true to yourself, and even finding love. All of the characters were nicely developed, and the way Clearwater is portrayed, it perfectly captures the everyone-knows-your-business atmosphere of a small town. Emily's struggle to stay strong throughout a boatload of narrow minded drama is awesome to watch, as is the way her relationships with her parents and Lance develop. There's plenty of conflict and suspense to keep you guessing and it hits you on all your emotions so have some tissues handy! Really enjoyed reading this and look forward to reading more by this author.
