This story is another page turner and makes you want to see what happens in all the Walkers lives. Another great read! Waiting for the final sister to find love will be hard but I know worth it!

Seems I'm the first one here, oh well. Here it goes. I wasn't sure what I was getting my self into when I got the book but I decided to go on ahead and order it. I thought there was a typo at the title of the book but it turns out to be lesbian related. But I kept reading. At certain points I thought I was going to stop but the suspense was killing me. So I kept reading. It's funny how the writer refuses to see that the main character is a closeted lesbian. The main character claims to be out of the closet but I don't think she really is. Now enter a friend called Gina who is not really gay but they both start competing for the attention of Lillian. Tessy (the main character), who doesn't really want to be with Lillian and Gina (not lesbian), somehow these two women find themselves competing for the attention of Lillian. And OMG !! Gina has a lot of drama going on with her. I do not want to give everything away but most times, I find my jaw dropping at the actions of Gina. Total girl drama. I will say that the writing was very good, but not great or perfect! I hope the writer does better in the next one.All and all it was a good read and I can't wait for the sequel !!

By Zo-Editor I bought the book and finished reading it in less than two days. I didn't want to put it down.The book is not what I expected - it's better. In reading Amish Confidential I learned about the author's typical - yet also unique in some ways - Amish upbringing in Lancaster Pennsylvania.But then the author explains that not everything in Amish Country is a postcard pretty fairytale.The real and true and headline worthy stories he relates are impossible not to grab your attention. And they aren't reality tv stories but real things from the school shootings to an Amish baby being killed by English teenagers. The stories Stoltzfus tells are sometimes shocking, sometimes personal, but always amazing.But as much as the book educates the reader about REAL Amish country, its really in the end a love letter of sorts to the Amish family and home he grew up in. I recommend this book to anyone whoever wanted to know more about the Amish, has traveled to Amish country or watched any of the Amish tv shows.Stoltzfus has a co-author, Ellis Henican, who makes the book not only readable, but immensely enjoyable.

By Great NC Fan I recommend this book for anyone who feels that all people are human with sinful thoughts and especially for those who believe some people are "pure" and above others. Human nature is a sinful nature. I admire Levi for his honesty. This is not for children. I love and admire the Amish for their simple lifestyle and Christian beliefs. I agree with Levi that some of their interpretations are a bit extreme, exaggerated and off but the Bible with different interpretations can be confusing. I loved the Amish Mafia show and was saddened at the ending with betrayal and mistrust, but that's the "human way". I found it informative and interesting. Although I knew most of the stories from the news broadcasts of past offenses I was saddened at the sexual abuse and how when one woman reached out for help and it was disregarded. I find it appalling how the tourism tries to deny reality and cover so much with of it and it sickens me to think the "English" would have the guts to say they know how the Amish community lives when they are so private. As a Christian I understand the Bible (or try to) and know we are all sinners in need of forgiveness. The Amish p community are an example of this and truly show forgiveness. I don't understand shunning and will never understand how they can forgive so much but shun their friends and families.I agree with Levi that the government officials have no right interfering. I look forward to reading more books that have been written by individuals who have left the community either by choice or shunning. I give a lot of credit to Levi for doing the show and especially this book. HATS off to you Lebanon Levi!!! Thank you for your honesty. Honesty, grace, love and forgiveness are the important lessons here. If we could all learn that from all of live we'd all be better off.Excellent read!

Not so much confidential info By Ionia Froment I'd like to preface this review by saying that this is a well written book, but definitely not what I expected it to be. Who doesn't love a bit of sensationalism? I, like many other people, watched this show because it was interesting, and because it blew apart an ideal that many of us who are not closely familiar with the Amish held. They are different than us--we knew that, but I suppose I thought that meant that they did not experience the same things that we do out in the "English world." I was aware whilst watching the programme that some of it must have been filmed as it was to increase the shock value for the viewers, but I also felt that it showed some true events going on that no outsider to the communities featured would have ever guessed at. I was hoping for more of the same with this book. It wasn't what I expected. Based upon what was said by Levi himself, I thought this book would be more of a 'here is what was and is really going on behind the scenes' kind of thing. I expected to learn more about those he felt had wronged him and thought he would offer up an explanation for some of the events America witnessed on the series but didn't learn more about. That isn't what this book is. With the buildup for the release of the book and the promises of secrets exposed, I think a lot of people will buy this in close connection with the end of the series, thinking they will find out what happened to favourite cast members or get a peek at what producers and cast members didn't or weren't allowed to share during the filming. They won't learn a thing. Even so, this is an interesting look into the world of the Amish. Levi and his co-author do a good job of putting the traditions and long-standing beliefs of his people into focus for those of us who would not ordinarily understand them. There is a lot of information about events that have happened in the Amish community, although many of them weren't shocking, or anything that you could not google and come up with results for on your own. I suppose getting an insider's take on things when you are curious about a certain region or community does have benefits over just researching news articles, and Levi does include many personal details about his life. My honest opinion is that this is a good history of the Amish and a look at the daily lives of those who follow this lifestyle, but isn't anything so dramatically exciting that you will be rushing to share tidbits with your family and friends. I think the ever present threat of lawsuits for slander stop people from saying what they really think a lot of the time. I have a feeling a lot more could and would be said if it weren't for that fact. The show was exciting and filled with lots of "I can't believe he did that!" The book is not. Although I can respect the co-author for making the book grammatically correct and for flowing smoothly, I did not see the big personality from Levi as it was displayed in the TV show. I missed that. Eighth grade education or not, I felt like he should have been more present in his own book. Overall? I'm glad I read it, but I think in this case, the marketing was more exciting than the book

Touching and Heart-Warming Love-Story By Believer "Crossroads" is the heart-warming and touching love-story of Sara and Hani, a couple who find true love only to have the trials of life threaten to destroy it. An ambitious young woman, Sara struggles to juggle the responsibilities of married life, a new baby and her career only to find a wedge of resentment as Hani grows more distant and in her eyes insensitive to her feelings. At a crossroads in the marriage the kindness of a therapist and destiny intervene to salvage their love.Set in the exotic backdrop of Istanbul and Beirut the plot traces Sara's life from her youth to young adulthood with the warmth of family members and in pursuit of her education and career. In a story filled with beautiful landscapes, myth and legend Sara falls in love with Hani an architect, living in marital bliss until the birth of their son throws a wrench into the harmony when both parents prove inept at coping with a new baby. Each runs away from their problems only to recognize the severe repercussions of their actions when the marriage begins to disintegrate. Although beautifully written, and emotional when Hani leaves, there is little depth or tension in the plot until an accident wakes the couple up to the possibility of a tragic loss that would separate them forever.In this story the characters are too perfect, without flaws or faults that would give their personalities a complexity that would make them even more fascinating. Sara is an ambitious, well-educated and hardworking young woman whose unhappiness grows when her career takes precedence over her marriage and new son. Hani is a confident businessman and a kind, loving husband who struggles with the trials that are eroding his marriage.I enjoyed reading"Crossroads" a light but moving love-story as Sara learns to "listen to her heart".

CROSSROADS is a probing and evocative examination of how love can go astray By Norm Goldman With her debut novella, Dina Al- Hidiq Zebib tackles the emotionally loaded and delicate subject of marital dynamics where unfortunately a couple inflict pain upon one another without really realizing what is happening to them. CROSSROADS is a probing and evocative examination of how love can go astray, a story that no doubt elicits a sensation of familiarity, however, its retelling can link and sustain us if we pay heed to the message delivered.The general theme of the narrative is summed up in the Foreword where the author informs her readers that she has chosen to write about “a young woman's touching experience in life where crossroads she had come across diverted her direction to a course she had never considered to choose.” She further goes onto explain that by listening to her heart, this young woman was able to seek the truth thus “allowing her to salvage what she already had, and channel her life path along the route she found the most fulfilling.”The narrative is wonderfully written and the author shows a great deal of sensitivity crafting her two principal characters, Sara and her husband Hani. Early in the story we learn that Sara originally came from Lebanon and during the time of its civil war she and her family had moved to Istanbul, Turkey. Although she had been reluctant to return to Lebanon, upon the advice and encouragement of her loving grandmother, she decides to take the plunge and return to her country of birth and make a new life for herself. Not long after her arrival in Lebanon she accepts employment with the Lebanese Cultural Center and it is at a friend's 2000' New Year's Eve party where she meets Hani. The couple are immediately attracted to each other and eventually marry. However, as is the case in many marriages, the honeymoon begins to stumble when their first child comes along. Sara must now figure out her role at home? How will she navigate her marriage? How will Hani handle it and will he be supportive of her? Will the couple realize that they have a serious problem and will they openly communicate with each other? Psychologists refer to these difficulties as marital stressors and very often they inevitably challenge or threaten a marriage. In fact, as is the case of Sara and Hani, they did cause a great deal of tension and discord fueling bitterness as well as their drifting apart. There were constant fights, arguments, shouting, as well as insults and unfortunately no one was around to calm them down.To better understand herself Sara refers to ancient myths including that of Jason, the ancient Greek leader of the Argonauts who was escaping from Talos' rocks, when his wife, Medea the sorceress, casts a spell on him, blurring his vision. His weaker foot slipped and he fell which caused his end. Reflecting on this myth, Sara acknowledges that it is a representation of real-life events that communicate invaluable lessons. Moreover, could this same story relate to her and was it possible that her life of love, confidence, peace and happiness be bruised beyond repair?In an unflinching study of the complex relationship between a husband and wife, Al- Hidiq Zebib provides her readers with characters that appear real because she has revealed their flaws. In addition, she conveys insights into the love and dependence that tie couples together and on the other hand the challenges and abandonment that can isolate their relationship.

Crossroads to self-discovery By TFLReader There is nothing that I love more in a work of fiction than to encounter characters who are on a journey of self-discovery, and particularly on a spiritual path. This is something that I can relate to on so many levels and it just brings me even closer to the characters and stories that I read, making me want to stay up late into the evening turning pages and learn more about the author. This is what author Dina Al-Hidiq Zebib's new book "Crossroads" did for me.The story of Sara, who is struggling to find herself in more ways than one. She is thirty-five years old, is married and has a two year old son. She has a job at a cultural center that she is doing well with, yet just isn't happy. The story progresses through a series of "crossroads" that tell the story of Sara's life, her influences, and the events that have shaped who she is. As events unfold, she learns the hard lesson of differentiating between relying on people and circumstances for happiness and finding happiness within. Much of this is with the help of a spiritually-minded therapist, Dr. Jamal.I simply loved this story and everything about it. I enjoyed learning about the character from her childhood into adulthood and then living through her trials with her. Oftentimes, it is through great trials and tragic events that we have the greatest breakthroughs and this is something that I could really relate to with Sara's story of redemption and self-discovery. "Crossroads" was a very-well written and inspirational read for me that will continue to stay with me long after the last page was turned.

I enjoyed the story as it closely relates to the emotions, friendships, journeys and relationships that so many share and encounter daily. Waiting.... :)

I enjoyed how the characters interacted with each other, and how they bonded over their weight loss journey. This book was entertaining, and the plot was good.....so why only three stars? Well the story ended abruptly and left too many unanswered questions. I was hoping for some type of closure on one of the many issues these ladies were going through. Also, the time line doesnt add up at all, and was bothering/distracting me.They planned to go to London in October (9 month's away). The current date was sometime in spring because in chapter 12, Nikki boss had a catered lunch party on April 10th. So how did Halloween, Christmas, and new years all come to past with out taking the trip. I'm not a mathematician but that doesn't add up. That's not 9 months. That's almost a year and a half.

Women of all ages can relate to the trio of main characters because these ladies live everyday lives, experience everyday emotions, and react in ways that most women can sympathize with." I was a little disconcerted with the abruptness of the ending, especially because it left a lot of stories left untold. I'm hoping this means there's a sequel in the making and not that the author intended to leave us all hanging! Along with the beautiful cover, there is a wonderful Christmas novel. Alexis is in love with Chase. They are going to marry. However, they have one problem. It's called a future mother - in - law problem. Geneva is Chase's mother. She despises Alexis. All she wants for Christmas is for Alexis to disappear from her son's life. The novel is filled with painful situations: there is conflict between two sisters, Sabrina and Alexis, there is the emptiness Alexis experiences every Christmas season because she misses her mother so much, and of course, there is Geneva, the mother - in - law no one wants in their life.All the way through the novel, Alexis proves herself to be quite a lady. I don't think she ever faltered. I really liked Alexis especially when she would do all she could to help her neice, Courtney. Then, I began to think that Alexis just is too good. She's the Angel on the top of the Christmas tree. Strangely, her perfect nature didn't disturb me. I liked this perfect lady. Too bad there are no perfect ladies in real life.In my eyes, I felt Alexis forgave Geneva too quickly. The woman had said awful things about Alexis. It would take me at least a month to forgive the hateful woman. Alexis forgives her immediately. Perhaps it's the Christmas prayer that Alexis wrote down. I'm sure the prayer helped her through so many holdiday problems. As far as forgiving Geneva, Alexis came off too perfect. While under the magical spell of Kimberla Lawson Roby's writing or the Chicago holiday air, I accepted this perfect woman. In other words, I loved this novel and the main character. It's the first Christmas novel I've read this year. If I don't read another one, I feel completely satisfied with this one novel. Ba-Humbug By Jozef Syndicate Not to be a bit of a humbug about a Christmas novel written by one of the most talked about authors in many of Louisiana's social book clubs: Kimberla Lawson Roby. But, "A Christmas Prayer," Roby's latest novella falls short of what was expected to be great story telling.The narrator's voice is strong, often overbearing, and telling the story of Alexis instead of guiding the reader through the main characters heavy Christmas grief and her uncertainty in marrying the unbelievably perfect Chase DuPont--especially with the tension with her and his mother.Roby's writing style is a favorite among readers who gravitate to colloquial literature. To that, she adds a little sass from the narrator sharing family drama, a few Hallelujahs, sister secrets, and a big dose of sorrow. She does manage to round the story off using a quick twist of events that feeds the drama well and comes full circle for Alexis, sister Sabrina, Chase, and even his mom.For those readers looking for literary devices rich in imagery and word play or an emotional story line to attach to and learn from...well, that's just not Roby's style in "A Christmas Prayer".

FYI volume 1 is hardcover and volume 2 is soft cover. The softcover book came with a bent corner already. I'm really disappointed because it's a lot harder to take care of softcover when carrying the book around which I have to. The edges always get bent and the book itself gets into bad condition which is why I specifically looked for the hardcover option. Oh well, this package was cheaper than other options, and I need the book tomorrow so I'll deal with it but just a heads up if anyone else was wondering.

Baby Ava tells the story of two parents’ struggle to conceive, beginning with Caroline’s life-threatening illness and covering their journey to a surrogacy clinic in India, the birth of their daughter by a surrogate mother, and their subsequent battle with the authorities to get an Irish passport for little Ava. Any couple’s decision to have a baby is a momentous occasion, but for Caroline and Niall O’Flaherty, this decision brought them down a road of emotional and physical stress and heartache. As Caroline was unable to carry a baby to full term, the pair unsuccessfully explored IVF treatment and adoption, before finding a glimmer of hope through Dr Patel’s Infertility Clinic in India. To great celebration, they met the surrogate mother in August 2010 and following a successful embryo transfer, Ava was born in April 2011. However, when their heartache should have turned to joy, they met another battle… On the basis that Ava was a surrogacy baby, the Irish Government refused to issue her a passport or emergency travel documents. The deficit of legislation governing surrogacy in Ireland, combined with the surrogate mother being considered the legal mother, left Caroline and Ava stranded in India in a legal limbo, with terrorism threats ripe in the wake of bin Laden’s death. TV crews from CNN and BBC World in Anand soon dubbed little Ava ‘the baby without a passport’ as Caroline was interviewed by numerous news shows, including a Japanese network. Back in Dublin, Niall and his legal team battled to bring Ava; they were met with numerous legal obstacles and negativity, and were even advised by one official to ‘look into good orphanages in India’. Ava finally received one of the first passports granted to an Irish surrogacy baby and made history by suing the Irish State at just 3 weeks old. The issuing of Ava’s passport ultimately affected the status of surrogacy in Ireland: in February 2012, new guidelines were used by the Department of Justice to assist parents planning to have children via surrogate mothers abroad that allowed for the granting of travel documents. Caroline and Niall’s tale of surrogacy is brave and bittersweet, embracing the richness and diversity of Indian culture and the generosity of its people.

About the Author CAROLINE and NIALL O'FLAHERTY met through work in 1995. After dating for only three months they went out for a drive, spotted their ideal house, and spontaneously bought it! So began their lives together. They married in 2002 and dreamed of starting a family. Caroline’s sister-in-law is Indian and she has always had an affinity with that country, feeling drawn to Indian culture. It is somewhat fitting that that is where Baby Ava’s life began and Caroline and Niall plan on taking her back to India when she is older. The O'Flahertys decided to tell their story because it is Ava’s legacy but also as a way of helping other parents who find themselves fighting similar legal battles. Niall is also enrolled in an LLB degree beginning in September. Niall, Caroline and Baby Ava currently live in Dublin.

It definitely stood alone.Elaine, a doctor, is used to working hard and getting what she wants. She used to spend many summers at the Bluebird Bed-and-Breakfast and has very fond memories. She wants to spend her time fixing things up to give others the same opportunity to make their own memories. I like how well-rounded she is--she practices medicine, decorates, and even takes up knitting.Dean is the son of the owner of the B&B. He's had some hard times--he suffers from some PTSD, doesn't sleep at night, and is also very determined to turn the B&B into a fishing retreat.I enjoyed the setting and felt right at home there. Robert, the owner, had quite a fun time setting up a bet between these two, extremely stubborn people. They had to get a plan, get bids, and more and then things would be judged, with a winner chosen. It's fun to have a competition in the story, with the characters not liking one another at all, but it went on a little long for me. I liked Dean and Elaine, but had a hard time connecting to them. The story is full of fun busybodies, with humorous moments, and I liked the way it all ended up.Content: Clean romance; no violence, religious elements, or language.*I received a copy in exchange for an honest review*

An Engaging, Wholesome Love Story That You're Sure to Enjoy By Laurie I Elaine Watson, Tall Pines doctor, is determined to purchase the neglected Bluebird Inn from a patient and owner of the Inn, Robert Collins. Robert's beloved wife, Martha Collins, took pride in The Bluebird Inn and her labor of love was a beautiful place that Elaine fondly remembers visiting with her parents when she was just a girl. Martha is gone now and along with her went the meticulous efforts of maintaining the Inn. When a health crisis nearly takes Robert's life, save the good doctor Elaine's diligent care, he decides not to continue taking life for granted by heading out on his own travel adventures. What will become of the Bluebird Inn? Elaine refuses to acknowledge her childhood place of contentment being lost forever, so she offers to purchase and restore it. Cheryl Harper's fluid storytelling skills and sense of humor pulled me into the narrative and I felt immediately connected to the characters, setting and the story overall. Devouring 100+ pages in one sitting without stirring is a great feat for me and means that I am thoroughly enjoying the writer's style. This was my experience with The Bluebird Bet. Great story, fun and endearing characters, lovely setting, familiar friends and a convincing love story with a happy ending. Would you like those elements in your sweet romance story? Then you're sure to love The Bluebird Bet.

Dean and Elaine both love the Bluebird B & B but envision different things for it's future. Elaine wants to restore the Bluebird to it's original glory and bring families back. Dean wants to focus on the fishing which is something that he loves. These two very different individuals have to learn to work together while they plot against each other.The plot of the story is good - rivals who become friends who might become more if they allow themselves. Even though both Elaine and Dean are determined to win, they also end up caring what will happen to the other if they do win.As I said, this is a sweet, gentle book. It didn't pull my emotions in or cause my heart to pitter patter, but it was a good book. The romance is soft and slow building. The Bluebird sounds like the perfect place for a weekend getaway.
