This sounded absurd to me after having the idea that I have to brush twice a day ingrained since birth. However, Dr. P Piero does a wonderful job of explaining his research and rationale in his "Never Brush Your Teeth Again!". An oral health guide that could be life-changing to say the least, Piero takes a look at the persistent bacteria that remain even after brushing, what harm they can cause to your mouth and health in general, and what can be done about it. An eye-opening read to say the least that has changed the way that I look at oral hygiene.

About the Author Bhushan Patwardhan, PhD, received his degrees in biochemistry. He is a professor and the Director of the Interdisciplinary School of Health Sciences, Savitribai Phule Pune University, India, where he is engaged in research in biomedical sciences, pharmaceutical biology, and evidence-based Ayurveda. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (India), the recipient of many prestigious orations, and founder and Editor in Chief of the Journal of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine. He is the author of over one hundred scientific papers, holds eight international patents, and has received four thousand citations. His research on drug discovery and genomics has received high acclaim.Gururaj Mutalik, MD, received formal education in modern medicine is a distinguished physician with basic knowledge of Ayurveda, who has witnessed transformations in clinical medicine for about six decades. He was Professor of Medicine, and Dean at Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Medical College, Pune, India. He worked as a post-doctoral fellow in human genetics at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He served as the Director of the WHO at the United Nations in the New York City. He was Chief Executive Officer of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, a Boston-based, international organization of physicians, which received Nobel Peace Prize in 1985. Integrative approach: The intelligent option By Kishor Patwardhan The core message of the book is that an integrative approach (in the form that is defined and advocated clearly by the authors) to healthcare is more intelligent option than any others in resolving the present state of crisis in the sector. The authors propose the ways and means by which Ayurveda and Yoga can contribute in achieving a better global health. What impressed me the most is that the authors have restrained themselves from all temptations to propose any extreme views on the topic. They have stated this in the following paragraph: “While attempting this advocacy we do not take any extreme positions about reductive Western Biomedicine or holistic Eastern Traditional Medicine. We feel that both these systems have strengths and weaknesses. We hypothesize that a synergistic confluence of these seemingly diverse systems may be possible through appropriate integrative approaches.”The book is for those who are interested in exploring some innovative and implementable ideas for the betterment in the healthcare sector. This is also for the academicians and researchers from Ayurveda, Yoga and biomedicine fields. Not only does it give the exact reading and prayers that the priest give in Mass, it offers insights to the readings, daily prayers and other contextual items that help me understand my Catholic faith better.It's a small book, but the print size it still good. When the package arrived, I was surprised at how small this book is. Now that I'm used to it, I like the smaller size. I bought some 3M tabsPost-it Flags Value Pack, Assorted Colors, 1/2 in Wide, 8 Dispensers/Pack, 280 Flags Total plus 48 Arrow Flags (683-VAD1), and I put tabs on all the places needed in the Mass. You'll want a book marker to hold the place of the day's readings. If you watch the missal on the altar, it has lots of book markers. 3M tabs make this easier.I never thought I'd be one of "those people" who bring a book to Mass; I'm glad I am now.

By Tom Doerr I bought my copies directly from the publisher's website. The pages are too thin. I bought two of these--one for my Mom and one for me. I can't give it to her because she would be unable to read it. I won't use mine because I don't want to get a headache from trying to read it. It is really distracting to see both sides of the page at the same time. I would buy this product if the pages were thicker.

Hurst Faith of Our Father began as a sermon series at First Presbyterian Church in SC where is Minister in Residence. In it Davis covers the life of Abraham from his calling in Ur to his death and burial in Ephron. Davis writes with his unique insights and powerful illustrations that bring to life and heart the text of Scripture. Davis always sticks to the text and this book is no exception.Everything you have come to love and expect from Davis comes out in this book. He is always close to the text and as such brings the text close to our hearts, showing us where we need to change and how the gospel gives us the power to do so. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to read through Genesis 12-25!NOTE: This book was given to me for free. I was under no obligation to provide a favorable review. The thoughts and words expressed above are my own.

By Michael Philliber Dale Ralph Davis smacks another ball out of the park with this recently published, 176 page paperback book. The chapters are around eight pages long, but easy to read, thus making this material delightful devotional reading on Genesis 12 through 25. The main points are set in bold, and the substance is nourishing, warm, instructive, substantive, biblical, sometimes delightfully counter cultural, and easy to follow. These are sermons Dr. Davis has preached at First Presbyterian Church (ARP) in Columbia, SC."Faith of our Fathers' is ideal for individual reading, group discussion, family devotions, and Adult Bible studies. Everyone who delves into the chapters will walk away glad they've read the book. I unreservedly and unhesitatingly recommend this book!

There are few books that are easy to read By iamnotjosh There are few books that are easy to read, concise, and even humorous at times that does such a good job of expositing the text. This is one of them. The one thing I did not agree with was the author's brief digression on infant baptism. Other than that, the book is fantastic.

Charles Sherlock Fillmore (August 22, 1854 – July 5, 1948) founded Unity, a church within the New Thought movement, with his wife, Myrtle Page Fillmore, in 1889. He became known as an American mystic for his contributions to spiritualist interpretations of biblical Scripture. After the births of their first two sons, Lowell Page Fillmore and Waldo Rickert Fillmore, the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri. Two years later, in 1886, Charles and Myrtle attended New Thought classes held by Dr. E. B. Weeks. Myrtle subsequently recovered from chronic tuberculosis and attributed her recovery to her use of prayer and other methods learned in Weeks's classes. Subsequently Charles began to heal from his childhood accident, a development which he too attributed to following this philosophy. Charles Fillmore became a devoted student of philosophy and religion. In 1889, Charles left his business to focus entirely on a prayer group that would later be called 'Silent Unity'. It was named this because of a legal conflict with Mary Baker Eddy over the use of the title Christian Science. That same year he began publication of a new periodical, 'Modern Thought', notable among other things as the first publication to accept for publication the writings of the then 27-year-old New Thought pioneer William Walker Atkinson. In 1891, Fillmore's 'Unity' magazine was first published. Dr. H. Emilie Cady published 'Lessons in Truth' in the new magazine. This material later was compiled and published in a book by the same name, which served as a seminal work of the Unity Church. Although Charles had no intention of making Unity into a denomination, his students wanted a more organized group. He and his wife were among the first ordained Unity ministers in 1906. Charles and Myrtle Fillmore operated the Unity organization from a campus near downtown Kansas City. AUTHOR'S PREFACE These are not simply lectures; they are, rather, lessons. They are not merely to be read; they are to be studied and applied as one studies and applies mathematical rules. When the text suggests that the reader "hold a thought," or affirm or deny a certain proposition, the student should stop reading, and, both audibly and mentally, do as bidden. This will set up new thought currents in mind and body, and will make way for the spiritual illumination that will follow in all who are faithful to these instructions. The statements following each lesson should be used for mental discipline. Write these state- ments down and apply them daily while studying the lesson to which the y correspond. Anyone can do spiritual healing who will use the simple rules of denial and affirmation here set forth. If you wish to heal another, hold him in mind and mentally repeat the denials and affirmations, this will raise your consciousness to spiritual reality, where all healing power originates. If you wish to heal yourself, talk to your mind and your body as you would talk to a patient.

The first Unity book By Andrey Yashurin Christian Healing was the first Unity book published by Charles Fillmore in 1909, which means that almost a century passed since it came out of print. And it still touches people's hearts with its message!Many people in our days write on spiritual principles of healing and wholeness, and yet I recommend this classical book. Indeed, there is nothing new about spiritual healing. It was successfully practiced by Jesus and His immediate followers, who realized their authority over the natural elements. His healing secrets were re-discovered in XIX century, and Fillmores were among the pioneers of this new healing movement. Their convictions were supported by their experiences - both Charles and Myrtle Fillmore healed themselves and many others through the power of faith. The principles of wholeness that they found are still the same, and they will prove to be an effective remedy for all those who will discover and apply them.I was the one who translated this book into Russian and published it on the web.

By Richard Lewis If after reading this great book written by the founder of the Unity Church in 1889, you do not agree that the book is one of the greatest books you have ever read on the "Science of Mind," then you are probably a lost cause and in need of a new brain...This book will transform your life and bring to you untold riches in anything you desire...I know this sounds like a mouthfull, but don't take my word for it, just ask the millions of people who have read this book for the past 118 years...There are 12 lessons in this book written by Mr. Fillmore and his wisdom is astonishing considering when he wrote it...But the truth was known even then, but it took a man as great a writer as Mr. Fillmore to get these truths down on paper...To give you an idea of what Mr. Fillmore's lessons are about, here's a list of their contents: Lesson One: The True Character of Being. Charles Fillmore's interpretation of scripture is definitely not mainstream or orthodox. Jesus was hated by the the religious leaders of his time because of his unorthodox interpretation and application of the scriptures. With that in mind, we need to remember that the the religous system and religious authorities have been dead wrong more than once throughout history. If a book disagrees with scripture then yes, reject it. If it has a different interpretation then take a good look and prayerfully consider it, and like the Bereans examine the scripture to see if just might be so. The truth can bear up under examination.

About the Author Richard G. Erksine is a clinical psychologist and licensed psychoanalyst. Published by Karnac Books, London, 2015Reviewed by John Paradise, Exeter, UKPublished in the TRANSACTIONAL ANALYST,VOLUME 5: Issue 3: Summer 2015. page 22-24.In reviewing Relational Patterns,Therapeutic Presence, I am acutely aware I will likely miss out aspects of the book, for this is a review and not a condensing of the work. I find this in itself nteresting, noting what I have not included. The book undoubtedly offers a relational therapy approach. Aspects of what Erskine describes as IntegrativePsychotherapy bear some correlation with Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), which isn’t surprising given the latter has some of its roots in Gestalt therapy, which Erskine also draws upon in this work.The key themes explored through this book are attunement, the transferential domain and unconscious patterns of relating, with Erskine linking attachment patterns (Bowlby, 1979) to script, script protocol andpalimpsest (Berne, 1966). Relational Patterns, Therapeutic Presence has a focus on script psychotherapy. To quote Erskine: ‘In the psychotherapy of life scripts it is important that the psychotherapist understand and appreciate that life scripts are a desperate and creativeattempt to self-regulate while managing and adjusting tothe failures that occurred in significant and dependentrelationships throughout life.’ (p111).Erskine makes much mention of therapeutic involvement and attunement. Maybe we all have our own understanding of what this means, however Erskine makes clear through the examples given that therapeutic involvement is more than just being present with a client.My understanding is therapeutic involvement means paying attention to the client, to oneself and to the relationship. To properly attune to the affect and rhythm of the client, involvement is more than listening to words; it can include hearing what is not said as well as that which might be hidden or encoded within words: signs from the unconscious. Erskine encapsulates for me a vital rule for any therapist to remember, and why I often struggle when hearing elaborate therapeutic interpretation of a client’s experience. Erskine states (p161) that he ‘... knows nothing about the client’s experience or inner life, his observations and theories are mere impressions. The impressions alone do not tell enough about what it is like to be in the other’s experience. Therefore ongoing phenomenological inquiry is required to discover the client’s perspective, feelings and what they need in a therapeutic relationship.’In his writing Erskine is faced with the challenge of putting into words how he attunes to the client, what I regard as paying exquisite attention to a client. Over the course of the book, an understanding of what attunement is, and the therapeutic benefits of it, develops. Chaptersone to three offer a theoretical perspective on integrative psychotherapy through attunement and involvement. Having set out an initial theoretical perspective, Erskine continues in subsequent chapters to soundly illustrate the ideas presented with both case vignettes and transcriptswhich bring the theory presented to life. In thinking about script, Erskine suggests that script formation subsequently informs the infant’s frame of reference. Perhaps this will seem obvious to some and yet it wasn’tsomething I had previously considered. Once formulate and adopted, script beliefs influence what internal and external stimuli are attended to, how they are interpreted, and whether or not they are acted upon. A notion I suspect I will find helpful in my clinical work.I particularly like the theory the book offers on script, describing script as an unconscious organisation of experience. Erskine offers an additional and complementary view to classical theory on script,suggesting that script is more than explicit decisions. ‘Not all life scripts are based on parental injunctions or script decisions, contrary to what is emphasized in much of the literature on script theory. Unconscious conclusionsbased on lived experience account for a major portion of life scripts. Implicit experiential conclusions are composed of unconscious affect, physical and relational reactions that are without concept, language, sequencing of events, or conscious thought. (p96).In my own practice I have always paid acute attention to a client’s affect, physiology, words, metaphor and much more. I assumed that much of my own style was because of my NLP and clinical hypnotherapy background. This attention to the client is always therapeutically important for me, in order to gain insight into the client’s internalexperience. Now Erskine has helped me understand with his integrative psychotherapy approach why such attunement to the client is vital to decoding a client’s script decisions and relational patterns, in order to offer an effective psychotherapy. His writing places a great deal of emphasis on the unconscious encoded information from the client carried into the therapeutic relationship. Through attention to the therapist’s own process, and to valuable yet often subtle physiologicalclues, the client’s script beliefs can eventually be identified. Through contact and skilled attunement from the therapist, the client’s early implicit decisions can be bought to Adult awareness.Erskine pays much attention to that which is hidden, and yet is there to be discovered, for the skilled relational therapist, by paying attention tobody language, transference, body sensations and the client’s story.This is about listening to more than what is said. This is about attunement to the client as a way of understanding script decisions and beliefs. Relational Patterns, Therapeutic Presence dealsat some depth with Child and Parent ego states. I found it particularly helpful to read the ideas presented for working with the intrapsychic conflict caused by introjection of the Parent. Through the later chapters of the book, Erskine offers a brief review ofexisting theory of the Parent before developing his own ideas and presenting them within the cases of the ‘devil’ and Anne-Marie. The importance of his therapeutic relationship, his patience and the safety heprovides is of itself worth a specific mention I feel. While understanding the importance of establishing a good working alliance, I found it both helpful and surprising to read Erskine’s case examples and note justhow long he often gives to developing the therapeutic relationship, eighteen months being given as an example.To summarise, I have found this book helpful to have as a theoretical framework and validation as I develop my own style of psychotherapy. It is one of the most helpful books I have read in terms of furthering my own psychotherapeutic practice. The one question I have is whether Erskine’s integrative psychotherapy approach can be useful for any short-term therapeutic work. While I am sure there will be those who disagree philosophically, I find it helpful to hold in mind Erskine’sbelief that script cure is the primary goal of an integrative psychotherapy. By Cindy Coffin I believe the friendships are real and and at each turn in their lives compare their challenges and joys to my own "Vivacious Circle". I sincerely hope this isn't the last words published from this author whose writings I've fallen in love with.

I could really identify with their activities and their goals in life. I had a group of female friends in college and I felt at home and comfortable with these women. It was so real. I have never been to this part of the country, but it was described so well that I feel like I know it. I would recommend this book to everyone who loves a good story.

However, for this book I am making a exception.This is a beautiful book about life and facing the expected. The author does an exceptional job of making all of the characters come to life. The descriptions of the anxiety faced by the h throughout her life and trying to live up to what she felt she was "supposed to do" rang true throughout the book. The situations and decisions that she faced throughout the story were so true to life. Many authors put their characters in situations that do not seem real or that could be solved if someone would just ask the obvious questions to clear up a misunderstanding. Not so with this book! Every event and challenge face by the h is so real that, even ough I am the wrong gender, I could clearly see myself in.My only complaint is that the book ended without any real closure. When I finished the last word I immediately wanted a sequel. I truly hope the author has not finished with this beautiful tale.
