Hurst Faith of Our Father began as a sermon series at First Presbyterian Church in SC where is Minister in Residence. In it Davis covers the life of Abraham from his calling in Ur to his death and burial in Ephron. Davis writes with his unique insights and powerful illustrations that bring to life and heart the text of Scripture. Davis always sticks to the text and this book is no exception.Everything you have come to love and expect from Davis comes out in this book. He is always close to the text and as such brings the text close to our hearts, showing us where we need to change and how the gospel gives us the power to do so. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to read through Genesis 12-25!NOTE: This book was given to me for free. I was under no obligation to provide a favorable review. By Michael Philliber Dale Ralph Davis smacks another ball out of the park with this recently published, 176 page paperback book. The chapters are around eight pages long, but easy to read, thus making this material delightful devotional reading on Genesis 12 through 25. The main points are set in bold, and the substance is nourishing, warm, instructive, substantive, biblical, sometimes delightfully counter cultural, and easy to follow. These are sermons Dr. Davis has preached at First Presbyterian Church (ARP) in Columbia, SC."Faith of our Fathers' is ideal for individual reading, group discussion, family devotions, and Adult Bible studies. Everyone who delves into the chapters will walk away glad they've read the book. I unreservedly and unhesitatingly recommend this book!

There are few books that are easy to read By iamnotjosh There are few books that are easy to read, concise, and even humorous at times that does such a good job of expositing the text. This is one of them. The one thing I did not agree with was the author's brief digression on infant baptism. Other than that, the book is fantastic.
