The story continues from Fated Memories & weaves onwards from there. Tia, Jessies half breed child repudiated by her maternal grandfather, due to her heritage decides to return to Montana, against her granfathers orders with the aim of finding out about her father Two Spirits & her mother Jessie who both died by different hands before her birth. With an artful twist Judith McDowell takes us back in time prior to the massacre of the Blackfeet tribe in which the love between Tia, in a past life & the indian chief Appearing wolf unfolds. Their story is all embracing & shows that real deep love can pass the test of any time. I was very happy to see several nasty characters got their just due but had tears in my eyes as I read about the loss of others (won't say who so that the suprise isn't spoilt). Charlotte, Eathan, Hattie, wolfer & Petah are all here as are Frank & Jeremey McKenna - Frank I hated from the first book, Jeremy being a new entry was hated on sight from his first appearance. There is a lot of research in this book & gives an excellent view on life in Montana in the 1800's plus great insight to the Native America culture & values. A great book

In all of the books I have read, the ones with the strong young girls/women several have become classics. Scout from " To Kill a Mockingbird", Francie Nolan from " A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" likewise for Tia in " Long Ago Memories".For all the Qualities Tia possessed, like her strong will, her compassion, wisdom beyond her years, perhaps her best quality was her ability to forgive. All Eathan had to do was ask,and she forgave him....without hesitation or reservation...how many of us could have done the same if we were in her shoes? This book belongs on the best sellers list...5 stars from this reader.P.S. What happened to Frank McKennah and grand son was icing on the cake.

I love well written books that make me feel the love, pain, joy, and loathing of the characters. Tia, Appearing Wolf, Charlotte, Eathen, Wolfer, Pehta, Hattie, Frank and many more were equally important in different ways to the story. The author nurtured and developed each character to make them grow. They felt real and believable. She effortlessly moves time between 1882 and 1921 and there's no confusion ... you know where you are. I loved the book and can't wait for more works from Judith McDowell. What a great sequel to Fated Memories. Keep up the great work.
