Have you ever wanted something more from your faith? More than religion? More than church? One lost and forgotten biblical word, "ekklesia," holds the key to a more vibrant and life-changing Christianity. --Modern English language Bibles quote Jesus as saying, "I will build My church." However, the earliest Bibles have Jesus saying, "I will build my ekklesia." For hundreds of years, this Bible word-switch has misdirected the way the body of Christ meets for worship. --So what does ekklesia mean? Ekklesia was the name of the city council in ancient Greek city-states. It was a democratic, interactive, participatory body of equal citizens sharing their concerns and needs with one another. --In the Western world, traditional church is in decline. Religious categories now include millions who are "Dones" (done with church) and "Nones" (have no church affiliation). --Perhaps it is time for more than church. Steve Simms invites you to go "beyond church" and experience ekklesia, HEAVEN's CITY COUNCIL, not as a theological concept, but as a practical and living reality.

I know Steve Simms. I trust Steve. He is a wonderful believer in our common savior Jesus. Steve wrote this book on ekklesia (the real church of the new testament) I went straight to the chapter on My Search for Ekklesia. In the next couple of sentences is his take on the real church. "I did see the Son that night and I’ve never been the same. He rose in front of my eyes from a gathering of ordinary people who seemed as common as water. In His Presence, I experienced His warmth and felt it deeply – peace, love, compassion, sincerity, openness, reality, and meaning. It was wrapping around me and soothing my pain." It is not easy to find ekklesia, that is my experience. It is much easier to be ekklesia. We only have ekklesia to the degree we are ekklesia to others. That is why for years I have enjoyed my friend Steve over in Nashville. He is a person of peace and in his book you will find a photograph of what the church is like. Like Steve, we can all have ekklesia, which is kin to another term koinonia. Fellowship and gathering are part and parcel of authentic ekklesia. I recommend this book, because it will point you in the right direction. Thanks Steve for sharing these powerful thoughts with a waiting world, to those who also are searching for ekklesia.Simms, Steve (2015-12-06). Steve Simms does an excellent job of research By william Pratt If you have ever had a disagreement with someone, especially your spouse, because you used the wrong word to express your thought, then you are, in a small way, familiar with the premise of this profound book. Over the centuries the church of Jesus Christ, the body of believers, has been misdirected. If you have ever wondered what happened to the power of the church, Steve Simms does an excellent job of research, and then testifies to his own experiences, to explain this great loss. When the Ekklesia became the organized church, the power of the Holy Spirit, for the most part, was shut out.I know Steve personally, and have attended the church in which he facilitates meetings that are modeled after the first century ekklesia, not 21st century church. During these meetings you get a true sense of the active movement of the Spirit in the lives of believers. Instead of being a one-man show, many of the attendees take up the mic and give testimony. What a treat; you hear many sermons, not just one. Many voices are raised to glorify the living resurrected Jesus Christ. This is church as it should be. Were it so, the power of the Spirit would be moving monumentally in our land. Instead the church has become just another institution which advances a faulty agenda and rather than infiltrating modern culture, has been infiltrated and changed to become more like it. The mission of the ekklesia is to bring change to the world not to be changed by the world. God bless you Pastor Steve for your testimony and uncompromising expose of the church’s modern dilemma. Now let us go fix it.

By Mike Witherden This unique, easy to read book explains how the term 'church' is derived from a non biblical word referring to a circle of stones or building used in pagan rituals, and that the meaning of the original Greek word actually used in the bible, which is anglicized as Ecclesia, has a deep, rich meaning, implying not a building but the Christ centered Holy Spirit led collection of people who get together to hear from God how to effectively operate within His Kingdom here on Earth. The book explain how, without a single dominant leader; the Ecclesia get together to share, pray and fellowship with one another; the Holy Spirit powerfully leads; and Christ is manifested and glorified within such meetings. This book also presents the reader with many scriptures and historic references, which clearly and overwhelmingly show that this is exactly the way Jesus 'set it up' with His first disciples.
