The Waiting Room is an adult-YA crossover about a woman coming of age in high school, college, and young adulthood, then coming of age again at thirty, when hitting rock bottom prompts her to revisit the choices that shaped her life. Taylor Collier has never faced her past—the distant past or the recent past. As a result, she's spiraled into a life fueled by alcohol and drugs. After her worried mother and best friend confront her, Taylor is given a choice—rehab or therapy. And so, intent on only a single session with Dr. Modos Marks, she enters his waiting room, planning to get in and get out. After all, she has successfully kept her most terrifying secret for fifteen years, so getting through one session with a shrink should be a piece of cake. But she's not prepared for what the doctor has in store for her. Session after session, he peels away the layers of her life, revealing that all is not as it seems—and unraveling a series of surprises that will leave both Taylor and the reader breathless.

Those few pages quickly turned into chapters and eventually, it's entirety. I thought I was moving through most of the book feeling pretty good about 2-3 potential scenarios. Since it was a debut novel with the possibilities of being too transparent, I was starting to wonder if I was going to be disappointed. Once I came to the last couple chapters, I was deeply emerged. As many of the other reviewers have written, the ending is . . .well, simply amazing. I felt quite embarrassed by my preconceptions. I also noticed that I was unaware of all the subtleties I had absorbed throughout the sessions. The author did an excellent job whispering intricate details that at times would tease me and at other times provide complete fulfillment. Again, I'm not much of a reader, but this was a great book. Looking forward to more from her.

By Y Grizinski I couldn't put my phone down since I was reading The Waiting Room on my kindle app. I enjoyed the pace and structure of the book as the main character went on a healing journey. I cannot wait for the next work by Laura Markovitch and plan to be one of the first in line to order.

By Amanda Wilson Typically, I organize my books in alphabetical order according to the last name of the author -- however, I have one bookshelf dedicated to my favorite books. The second I finished this book, I placed it on this shelf! From the beginning of session one, Laura Markovitch dives into her character's devastating past in a way that will leave readers dying to know more about Taylor. Because of the suspense and surprises that Laura Markovitch brilliantly weaves throughout Taylor's sessions, there is never a dull, nor anticipated, moment.I love the organization of the novel as well. Laura really uses the session set up to her benefit when creating suspense. I love the use of flashbacks to tell Taylor's story. It works so beautifully! When it comes to the endings of books, I can typically predict what the author is heading towards. With this novel, I was on the edge of my seat as each prediction was shot down with an even better story line than my imagination could ever create! I couldn't catch the curve balls that Laura threw into this masterpiece! The ending was so unexpected and exciting that I found myself struggling to turn the pages fast enough! This book will have readers mesmerized and entranced all the way through till the very end! An absolutely stunning and beautiful novel! I look forward to Laura's next piece!
