By jomo In my experience, missional communities are the most effective way to get to know Jesus and to share him with others. Watson says in the book, "A community on mission is not one that talks about it one night a week and then sends everyone to 'try' in their independent lives." This book stirred my passion for MCs with biblical reflections, practical tips, and moving personal stories. For instance, Watson shares the story how he and his wife led a good MC, but they never really experienced deep community until they were vulnerable enough to ask the community for help in their marriage. This book is great for those who want to learn about MCs for the first time or to revitalize your knowledge if you have experience already. If you're thinking about starting an MC, it would be very helpful for you (or your whole group to read). Also check out Called Together, which is an 8 week leader's guide for starting MCs.

The next few chapters lay out a theology of community which is concise, punchy, and worth not skimming. Then, he really helps bring clarity to what we can do as we are "sent together" to our neighborhoods/city. This book, paired with "Saturate" by Vanderstelt, helps to paint a clear picture for leaders to form and think through what they should lead others toward and how.If you've been looking for something that brings real clarity to the "how" of missional communities or whatever you want to call them... get this book.
