By Nickolee Roberts I was thrilled to be asked to be a reviewer for some upcoming & newly released books through B&H Publishing. This is my first time to be a part of this and I wanted to start off with something that we could use as a family. So this 365 day "flip book" devotional was a perfect choice! It's incredibly well made and sturdy (which we ALL know is a huge plus with little hands holding it!). The colors were bright and vibrant and grabbed the attention of both of my girls (5 & 2). The girls loved that it was in "flip book" form and they each thought we should go through all the pages every time we opened it!The devotional is split into 52 weeks with the days numbered 1-7. Each week starts off with a verse to memorize and day 7 is always a reminder of that same verse (I LOVE that she focused so much on committing His word to memory!) The other days vary between questions about Bible stories, neat facts about the world (not necessarily Biblical), and sometimes fast facts from history to which she connected a spiritual application.I personally loved that there were no dates on this flip book. If something happens and you miss a day (or three), you just pick back up where you left off - no problem (or kid guilt!). There were fun activities to do as a family and sometimes questions that you might need to think over and answer the next day. Quickly, I came to the conclusion that it would be the perfect thing to have at the breakfast or supper table. I think a family could easily make it a part of their daily routine and it would help spark conversation during a meal. It's small and sits up on its own, meaning it would be easy to leave there and not get misplaced! The author did a fantastic job of living up to her tagline of "connecting your family to God's word and to each other". While I wouldn't deem this a "devotional", I do think that God's word is presented (although not daily), and the other pages are great family conversation starters. Depth of learning/understanding would really be up to the family, which makes me think that the age range on this one is wide, I'd personally say ages 7 & up - mostly because of the fun facts. There is nothing inappropriate - they just didn't hold my 5 year old's attention! If you are looking for a quick way to connect as a family and possibly start learning Scripture together - I think this is a great tool. Every day can be done as quickly as reading the sentence or two that are on the page + any conversation it stimulates.

It’s similar in format to a page-a-day calendar, but doesn’t have specific dates printed on each page. Instead, it is divided into numbered weeks and then is numbered by day within each week. It is spiral bound, sturdy, and self-standing. We have put ours on our table and use it as a good conversation starter at dinner. My youngest, in particular, enjoys getting to read the new page each day. The book uses bold, colorful hues that are visually stimulating for kids. I also love the whimsical illustrations. Each page is quick to read and is geared well to young families. I think any family with children between the toddler stage and tween stage would be a great target audience. Each day has something different, including thought-provoking questions, interesting trivia, challenges, prayer prompts, Bible trivia, riddles, games, and more. The week starts and ends with the Bible verse for that week. Most of the verses are presented from the HCSB, but each verse has the reference also listed so that you can use your preferred translation which is also great for helping children to learn where to find a reference in the Bible. My kids give it a thumbs up, and I’d recommend this fun product to anyone with children.I received this book for free from B&H Publishing in exchange for an honest review as part of their Lifeway Bloggers Program.
